June 2005
Romanian Exhibition
Our delegate Alexander Dan Bartoc and I met at the German National Show NAPOSTA 2005 in early June. At that time Dan provided me with the Catalog from the Romanian airmail exhibition AEROMFILA 2004, which occurred last September. This is a quality publication. In it is a checklist of all Romanian First and Special flights from 1918 right up through 2004. There are 363 flights on this list that was prepared by Dan. Those of you who may have an interest in the airmail of this region should try to get a copy of this show catalog.
Pacific Explorer 2005
The aero awards are listed in the “Palmares” section of this website. I wish to congratulate our delegate from Pakistan, M. Arif Balgamwala, for obtaining 95 points and a Special Prize for Best Aerophilately Exhibit for “British Indian Airmails 1911-1939.” Mr. Balgamwala had previously achieved this same level at Singapore 2004 and is well on his way to the Championship Class.
Brno 2005
Thanks to our Bureau member Bedrich Helm of the Czech Republic I have the Palmares from the European exhibition “Brno 2005” held May 10-15. There were 20 aero exhibits in competition. The Special Prize for “Best in Class” was given to Lucien Toutounji for his exhibit of “Egypt-Early Airmail 1870-1936.” He was also awarded a gold medal and 92 points. Congratulations!
Washington 2006
The next big International will be held in Washington May 27-June 3, 2006. This promises to be an exceptional show with almost 4000 frames of exhibits. Washington at this time of year is absolutely beautiful and the weather should be perfect. Plan to attend this great FIP show.
