American Air Mail Society (AAMS) has published a new book – ”O.A.T. and A.V.2. Markings” by Murray Heifetz. It is the third edition of the book which is taking up the interesting occurrence from the cancels O.A.T. and A.V.2. Just a couple of years ago, nobody found any interesting of these cancels, and they were really hard to find on auctions. To get those letters, with this special cancels, you have to look at the dealers cheapest boxes with covers. During the latest years have those cancels become very popular, and some have become very expensive. The cancels have now become so popular, there are even forgeries.

The book has a very good and easy layout, where every type of OAT-cancel and AV2-cancel, which are known, is analysed on one page each. Every page contains the titles; Origin, Design, Colours, Size, Earliest recorded use, Latest recorded use, No. covers recorded or seen, Identifiable usage by year, No of countries of origin, most frequent usage and Errors, varieties & notes.

The book is a piece of solid work and the knowledge about the OAT- and AV2-cancels has become more precious. There is still a lot to do, in this interesting and fascinating field. I hope the author will continue his work and I am already locking forward to the fourth edition.
