The United States Postal Service announced that it will issue three stamps on February 22, 2006 to meet new international rates. While none of the stamps contain the word “airmail” each displays a silhouette of an airplane next to the value. The editors of several stamp catalogues have treated previous releases in the Scenic American Landscapes series as airmail stamps since it was introduced in 1999 with the 48¢ Niagara Falls stamp

The 63¢ stamp features a view of Bryce Canyon, Utah and is designed to pay the new letter rate to Canada and Mexico.

The Great Smoky Mountains are featured on the 75¢ that will pay the international postcard rate to destinations other then Canada and Mexico.

Finally, the 84¢ International Letter Rate stamp depicts a view of Yosemite National Park.

Please note that the release date and designs are subject to change.
