Notes
On August 4, 1908 at 6:22 AM, Z II began a 24-hour endurance flight carrying 12 people, a requirement for purchase by the German Army. Large crowds watched as it flew over Konstanz, Schaffhausen, Basel, and Strasbourg.
Postcards publisher Ernst Krammer handed this card to the crew before the flight. It was air dropped over Strasbourg at 12:30 PM where finders mailed it to Friedrichshafen after writing multiple notes at the left and on revise including “Card from Zeppelin dropped on my head. Hurrah”.
