Notes
A joint flight of the LZ 127 and the USS Los Angeles to Chicago and other midwestern cities had been planned during the Graf Zeppelin's stay in the United States, but uncertain weather forced its cancellation. Instead, Dr. Eckener visited President Calvin Coolidge in the White House and made a train ride to Chicago where he met with the Mayor and made a public appearance at Soldier Field.
Mail for the return flight was gathered at New York City's Varick Street Station and at Lakehurst. The item shown was posted from Lakehurst and features Dr. Eckener's original signature.
The route for the return flight was as follows: Lakehurst - New York - Curtis Field - Block Island - Sable Island - North Atlantic - Bay of Biscay - Nantes - Tours - Dijon - Basel - Friedrichshafen. During the return flight a 17 year old stowaway was found on board. Dr. Eckener put him to work in the ship's kitchen.
Mail: 250 Kilograms. 49,745 letters, 51,958 postcards. Airship Commander: Eckener.
