The Graf Zeppelin was forced to make an emergency iatCuers, France on May 17, 1929 when four of its five engines failed on the outbound leg of the America Flight. After engine repairs were effected, the airship returned to Friedrichshafen from France. Sixty pieces of mail with straight French franking were carried on board. The cover shown here was signed by Dr. Eckener, Captain Hans Curt Flemming, Captain Ernst Lehmann, and Ludwig Duerr, inventor of the airship's Duralumin alloy frame.
