Notes
During the flight to Cairo, the Graf Zeppelin's airborne post office ran out of stamps. Cards and letters mailed on board after that point were unfranked. The crew operating the airborne post office marked such items with the handwitten notation: "Affranchissement Percu", followed by "1 RM" for cards and "2 RM" for letters. This notation, meaning "postage charged", helped ensure that the items would not later be assessed postage due while in transit to their destinations.
Mail of Graf Zeppelin officer Anton Wittemann.
