On August 1, 1936, Hindenburg flew over the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Berlin. Then it flew to Berlin's Central Airport (Tempelhof) and dropped 20 mail bags suspended on parachutes between 3:30 and 3:43 p.m. Passenger Carl Kloos mailed this card aboard during the flight. Hindenburg's postmaster cancelled it with the onboard postmark for passengers and crew (collector and dealer onboard marking requests were canceled in advance at the Frankfurt railway post office). The Berlin airport receiving cancel comes with either a or c below.
