Notes
On August 1, 1936, Hindenburg flew over the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Berlin. Then it flew to Berlin's Central Airport (Tempelhof) and dropped 20 mail bags suspended on parachutes between 3:30 and 3:43 p.m. Crew member Kurt Schoenherr mailed this card aboard during the flight. Hindenburg's postmaster cancelled it with the onboard postmark for passengers and crew and the red flight cachet (collector and dealer onboard marking requests were canceled in advance at the Frankfurt railway post office).
