Notes
On August 1, 1936, Hindenburg flew over the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Berlin. Then it flew to Berlin's Central Airport (Tempelhof) and dropped 20 mail bags suspended on parachutes between 3:30 and 3:43 p.m. On the same day, the German post office issued two Olympics souvenir sheets, each with four different Olympic stamps. Dealers who obtained these sheets in advance were able to have first day covers flown by Hindenburg. This sheet has the semi-postal stamp values 3+2, 4+3, 6+4, and 40+35 plus the 50-pfennig zeppelin stamp.
