Notes
The first cancel used for the South America flights included the name Hindenburg in addition to the red circular flight cachet. Hugo Eckener and Ernst Lehmann were commanders with 54 crew and 37 passengers. 61 kg of mail plus onboard mail were carried. However, the only mail canceled in flight was mail posted by passengers and crew. This example was canceled in advance at the Friedrichshafen post office. On the way to the Santa Cruz zeppelin hangar, mail bags were dropped over Recife.
