After the Krupp charter flight of June 16, Hindenburg returned to its Frankfurt base on June 18, but no mail was carried on that transfer flight, although it is possible passenger and crew mail with an onboard cancel exists (but it must somehow identify that flight). That same evening, Hindenburg departed on a test flight that did carry board posts. Ernst Lehmann was in command with 53 crew members and 51 passengers on an 11-hour flight.
