Notes
On August 1, 1936, Hindenburg flew over the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Berlin. Then it flew to Berlin's Central Airport (Tempelhof) and dropped 20 mail bags suspended on parachutes between 3:30 and 3:43 p.m. This card shows both the Frankfurt Rhein-Main airport cancel, which was applied at the Frankfurt railway post office 19. There are two Berlin airport receiving cancels: one with a or c below and the other with the time in the date line. This card has the timed cancel, which indicates that it was then sent by pneumatic tube.
