Notes
The Fried. Krupp firm of Essen chartered Hindenburg for 51 passengers to fly over Switzerland and enjoy the panorama of the Swiss Alps. Dr. Gustav and Bertha Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach, their three sons, one daughter, and works leadership traveled by train to Friedrichshafen to board the zeppelin at Löwenthal field on June 16, 1936. After departure, the crew notified Swiss traffic control of the flight. Swiss military maneuvers prevented flyover on the traditional route and Hindenburg was intruding. After many radio and telegram exchanges with the Swiss Air Ministry, Captain Ernst Lehmann took a revised western route on the return. The flight lasted 9 hours, 8 minutes. Mail received the onboard postmark. This card prepared by Hermann Sieger includes a red seal from the Krupp firm.
