Notes
Unfortunately, there are forged and faked examples of Hindenburg crash mail. The faked examples usually take a genuine 1936 cover and burn it so that all 1936 markings are gone. This forged example is one of several by the same forger. All are typed to avoid comparison with handwriting. All are by persons aboard who died in the crash. Although the postcard and stamp are genuine, the forged onboard cancel does not match the original. This information has been published in articles and the Dieter Leder book about Hindenburg crash mail.
