Hindenburg burst into flames and crashed at Lakehurst on May 6. This Netherlands dispatch from Rotterdam-Waalhaven on May 1 survived the burning wreckage. 17 covers salvaged in a bundle were addressed to Netherlands stamp dealer Gerard Thoolen in care of airmail collector Donald E. Dickason franked with a Boy Scout Jamboree stamp. In total, 26 salvaged Netherlands pieces of mail were recorded.
