Notes
When the Germany Flight of May 1 was cancelled, the mail, in sealed mailbags, was put aboard Hindenburg for its next flight to the United States. The Rhein-Main airport cancel had already been applied to mail at the Frankfurt railway post office 19. In addition to the red May Day cachet, a red boxed cachet explained the delay and rerouting. Enroute, crew dropped the mail bags at the Cologne (Koeln), Germany, airport.
