Notes
A number of flights had been scheduled for the fall months; all of these were cancelled due to the war. Those prospective flights and the catalog numbers assigned to them here are as follows: 34x - Bremen, Germany, September 3, 1939; 36x - Koln, Germany, September 17, 1939; 38x - Coburg, Germany, September 23; 39x - Karlsruhe, Germany, September 24, 1939; 41x - Munich, Germany, September 30, 1939; and 43x - Halberstadt, Germany, October 10, 1939.
The card shown here was intended for the flight to Koln on September 17th. It and a companion card had been sent in advance to Railway Post Office 19 in Frankfurt, to be processed for the flight. The two cards were returned to the sender in the envelope shown here, which was stamped with a black cachet identical to that applied to mail intended for the cancelled Konigsberg Flight. It reads: "On account of the cancellation of this flight, mail will be forwarded by ordinary means." Very infrequently seen.
